The PG and Research Department of Rehabilitation Science offers a complete academic pathway in Disability Rehabilitation — from diploma and undergraduate study through postgraduate, doctoral and continuing professional education:
Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science (B.R.Sc.)
The Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science programme consists of 6 semesters (3 years duration) and offers students the opportunity to gain comprehensive knowledge in the field of Rehabilitation Science.

Master of Rehabilitation Science (M.R.Sc.)
The Master of Rehabilitation Science programme consists of 4 semesters (2 years duration) and aims to advance professional expertise in the field of Rehabilitation Science through advanced coursework, research and field engagement.
Eligibility – Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications
- B.R.Sc. (Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science – Rehabilitation Social Work / Vocational Counselling)
- B.M.R. / B.Sc. Special Education / B.Ed. Special Education
- B.S.W. / B.P.T. / B.O.T. / B.A. or B.Sc. Psychology
- B.Sc. Home Science / B.Sc. Child Development
- Any other Undergraduate Degree recognized by RCI
Undergraduates from any other discipline will be required to complete three Disability Courses of 4 credits each as a mandatory requirement. These courses will be offered as Extra Credit Papers.

Diploma in Special Education (D.Ed.Spl.Ed. – IDD)
The Diploma in Special Education (D.Ed.Spl.Ed. – IDD) is a two-year professional programme designed to prepare teachers with specialized skills for educating children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). It focuses on inclusive teaching practices, individualized instruction and classroom adaptations to meet diverse learning needs. The department has offered the Diploma in Special Education since 2000.

Bachelor of Education (Special Education – Distance Education)
The Bachelor of Education (Special Education – Distance Education) programme is offered as a study centre of Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU), Chennai. It aims to equip educators and practitioners with the knowledge and professional competencies required to effectively teach and support learners with diverse disabilities through the distance mode.
