History

"Fashion is part of the daily air and it changes all the time, with all the events. You can even see the approaching of a revolution in clothes. You can see and feel everything in clothes."

 The Department was established in 2019 to offer B.Sc. Degree in Fashion and Costume Designing under the affiliation of Bharathidasan University. The Department stands for its academic excellence, development of creative skills and extension potential. Department encourages Innovative skills of students and helps them in transforming into reality. The Department offers the schooling pattern from the year 2020.Department of Fashion and costume Designing and Visual communication came under this school system.

It also conducts regular outreach programmes on Fashion Illustration, Entrepreneurship, Fashion Designing, Textile Designing, Apparel Designing, Creation of Designer garments and Fashion Accessories.

 The Department is equipped with Technical laboratories, special labs for Illustration, Sewing, Pattern making, Textile processing, Draping and Textile Testing. The faculty has diverse background in subjects like Fashion Psychology, Fashion Illustration, Technical Textile, Fabric structure and Design, Historic costumes, Fiber science and Textile printing. The Department is holding qualified staff members with JRF, NET, SET and Ph.D.

To promote an understanding of Fashion and Textile Design in relation to the needs of fashion, contractual furnishings, home textiles, and the business to business textile products.
