History

The Department of History was established in the year 1972 with an intermediate course under the headship of Rev.Sr. Fabiana, Professor of History. The undergraduate Course with a specialization in Tourism was sponsored by the University Grants Commission for five years from 2001 to 2006. The Department was upgraded to the status of a Research department in 2012 to provide Research facilities for students. An add-on Course in Eco-Tourism was sanctioned by the UGC in the year 2011 – 2013. The post-graduation in History was started in 2017. The Department focuses on creating genuine bureaucrats for nation-building by providing a platform through Holy Cross IAS Academy which commenced in the year 2017. The Department also houses a museum that was established in 2009 that contains wide exhibits of coins, Palm leaf manuscripts, stamp collection, and fossilised wood. The Department strives to play a vital role by inculcating a fervour for patriotism, coupled with inclusion, and equal participation to create a just and humane society
