In today’s ever changing world of Media – training, practice and creative thinking are the primary tools for moving ahead and these form the core components of the Department of Visual Communication. Holy cross college was a pioneer to start the department of visual communication in Trichy.

OBJECTIVES

  • To equip students with the necessary skills to be successful in the media, and the background and motivation to enable them to compete for leadership roles in the field
  • To provide assistance and professional guidance in Visual Communication to work as Photographers, Editors and other personnel in News papers, Press services, Magazines, Industrial photographic Departments, Trade Association, Multimedia and Educational media, Production Units, Cultural and Scientific Communicators.
  • To foster high standards in Visual Integrity and Communication Ethics.
  • To promote Scholarly Research and Creative Activities.

COURSE REGULATION – B.Sc

  1. Eligibility for Admission:
  • All students who have successfully completed the higher secondary school examination / intermediate examination / pre-degree examination or equivalent from a recognized board of examination
  • The candidate should possess a very good command of English and Local Language.
  1. Duration of the Course:
  • The B.Sc. course is of 6 semesters (three years) duration.
  • Each semester consists of a minimum of 90 working days or 450 class hours.
  • Besides theory and practicals the student also has to submit a project report and undergo field placement.

COURSE REGULATION – M.Sc.

  1. Eligibility for Admission:
  • Preference will be given to B.Sc., (Bachelor of visual communication) and also students from any other discipline are eligible.
  • In addition the candidate should have a strong interest in the Media industry.
  • The candidate should possess a very good command of English and Local Language.
  1. Duration of the Course:
  • The M.Sc. course is of 4 semesters (two years) duration.
  • Each semester consists of a minimum of 90 working days or 450 class hours.
  1. Course of study:
  • – The course of study for M.Sc. shall comprise of Theory, Practical, Field work and a Project/Dissertation in the field of study. Each paper has 90 hours comprising of 55 hours of theory and 35 hours of practicals.
  • At the end of the second year each student will have to submit a project / dissertation.

COURSE REGULATION – M.Phil

  1. Eligibility for Admission:
  • Preference will be given to M.Sc., (Master of visual communication) M.A. (Mass communication and Journalism) and also students from any other discipline are eligible.
  • In addition the candidate should have a strong interest in the Media industry and in the area of research.
  • The candidate should possess a very good command of English and Local Language.
  1. Duration of the Course:
  • The M.Phil course is of 2 semesters (one year) duration.
  1. Course of study:
  • The course of study for M.Phil shall comprise of Theory, and Project/Dissertation in the field of study.
  • At the end of the year each student will have to submit a project / dissertation.

Research suggest that a shift in the conditions of life brings about corresponding changes in norms, values , expectations and laws Today’s Youth are versed in dot.com language that exposes them to lifestyles, information’s, artifacts, images and texts, technologies and techniques outside their culture. India’

s economy has contributed to its interactions with the rest of the world. The traditional family structure is changing, contributing to a differing attitude of the youth. Hence it is good to find out what values the youth hold today, what shifts are there in their value system compared to the traditional values and value systems of the society.

The Department of Visual Communication College, Holy Cross College had participated in an International Short Film Festival of India conducted by Don Bosco Bicentenary at Manikandam, Trichy held on Aug 8th, 2015.

AD CAMPAIGN ON YOGA

To flourish the art of yoga under the inspiration of our Honourable Indian Prime Minister Mr.NARENDRA MODI, the Students of HOLY CROSS COLLEGE, TRICHY belong to the DEPARTMENT OF VISUAL COMMUNICATION had conducted an “AD CAMPAIGN” in the topic of YOGA. A team of seven members had undergone a project to Re-awake the art of yoga in today’s life. In to order create awareness about yoga we conducted many competitions and seminar and also distributed Pamphlets, Brochures, and Posters which reveals the necessity and benefits of yoga on Jan 18th,2016.
