The students were divided into group and met the villagers in their houses and explained to them about the causes, symptoms and preventive measures of Swine Flu.

Activity Water Portability Test

The students collect water samples from the tank near the Eswaran Kovil for presumptive test. The test was performed and got MPN index and calculate MPN index 28 and 1100.  This test indicates the Sewage contamination in this water.

Activity Vermicompost in Village.

The students of the Bio.Chemistry under went the project Vermi compost in their adopted village Thiruvarangapatty.  Nearly five pits were made in the homes of the villagers.  The pit was 1*1 feet in size.  The pit was filled with stones as first layer.  Then the vegetables waste at the middle and finally the cow dung at the upper layer.  The students instructed them to mix the content once for fifteen days and to sprinkle water in it.

Activity      Vermicompost in Village.

Introducing the WORMS in the pits.
In the previous visit the students made the pits in the villager’s homes and instructed the villagers.  In this visit the students went with earthworms and let the worms in the pits.  And instructed the villagers to puts vegetable waste and sprinkle water in it daily.  Then after 45 days it will be ready as manure and it use in fields.

Programme   : Soil collection for test.
The students were divided into three groups. The first and second groups conducted awareness programme on symptoms, causes and effects of various diseases. The third group went around the village and collected soil from various fields such plantation field, maize field and jasmine field.

Programme   :   vermicompost & cleaning the school surrounding.   
The students were divided into two groups. The first group formed vermicompost pits in the fields of the selective farmer’s field where they collected soil for sand test. The second group cleaned the place before the schools were no proper drainage system was followed. The students made a path and let the waste water from the pipe to the trees in front of the school compound.

Programme: Community programme on Soil analysis
Mr.Kasi Viswanathan, Agricultural officer, Soil Analysis center at Mannarpuram in Trichy came as the resource person. The officer spoke about the various ways of increasing the soil fertility and also explained the suitable crops for the soils. Then the students explained to the village people about the free vocational skill training programme for rural youth.

Programme: Tree plantation
The students had planned to provide yielding saplings such as Guava, Pomegranette, Lemon, Mango and Custard apple to the villagers.  The students brought 21 yielding sapling and provided these saplings to the villagers who have no yielding trees in their houses in Thiruvarangapatty.
